Our common sandpaper is basically divided into three categories (dry sandpaper, water sandpaper, and sponge sandpaper)


1、 Dry sanded paper

Dry sanded paper, as the name suggests, is a type of sandpaper that can be ground directly.

Dry sanding paper product characteristics: Dry sanding paper uses synthetic resin as a binder to bond silicon carbide abrasive onto latex, and is coated with an anti-static coating to make advanced products. It has the advantages of anti clogging, anti-static, good softness, and high wear resistance. Multiple fineness options available, suitable for polishing metal surfaces, putty, and coatings. Dry sanding paper is generally made of special Kraft paper and latex paper, natural and synthetic resins as binders, and advanced high electrostatic sand planting process. This product has high grinding power and is not easy to stick chips, and is suitable for dry grinding. Widely used in furniture, decoration and other industries, especially rough grinding.

Advantages: Cheap and durable, easy to use, high power, and significant polishing effect.

Disadvantages: When polishing, there is a lot of dust and severe wear, which cannot be reused.

In addition to the common paper based substrate carrier, there are two special forms:

(1) Sandcloth

After changing the carrier from thin and brittle paper to cloth, the service life has significantly increased. Due to the thicker carrier, it is also more durable.

(2) Flocking sandpaper

On the basis of the original carrier, a layer of fine fuzz has been added and often used in conjunction with machines.


2、 Water frosted paper

Water sanding paper also plays a significant role in the production of models, such as eliminating water holes in parts, polishing gaps in parts cut from the flow channel, and sometimes fine sanding paper can be used to remove the gloss of paint spraying and the oxide layer of metal parts, making the metal parts emit the original metallic luster. Staying oil on sandpaper for polishing can better give a soft luster to wooden models.

Characteristics:

1. Water sand paper is mainly used for polishing and polishing cars, furniture, leather, household appliances and Machine element. It has the characteristics of grinding with water, high surface smoothness of the workpiece, and no dust pollution during operation.

2. Coated sandpaper is suitable for grinding soft materials such as wood, paint, and soft metals, and has advantages such as non peeling and non clogging during use.

3. Water sandpaper is used for polishing various types of wood, non-metallic putty, and glass. It can also be applied to the beauty of fingernails and toenails.

Advantages: Soaking in water does not remove sand, and for local fine grinding and finished furniture repair, water sand is generally used. When used, water needs to be added for polishing. During the polishing process, due to the presence of water to reduce dust, there is basically no dust, and the impact on the surrounding environment is relatively small.

Disadvantage: The polishing power is relatively dry and sanding paper, which is a bit low. Directly use without adding water, especially easy to stick sandpaper, and the price is slightly higher than dry grinding.


3、 Sponge sandpaper

Sponge sandpaper, also known as sponge sand block, polishing grinding block, resin grinding block, abrasive grinding block, plastic grinding block, etc., is a polishing material that is based on a sponge and planted with grinding sand

Applicability and characteristics:

The most suitable for surface grinding and can absorb water, maintain long-term water grinding, can replace water sandpaper. Sponge grinding blocks can be made into various shapes and specifications

Product Usage:

Sponge grinding blocks are suitable for manual polishing of furniture, polishing of plastic products, polishing of car repair and paint repair areas, and surface treatment of metal rust spots and plastic. They have significant characteristics such as water resistance, acid and alkali resistance. Features: Soft, dry or wet grinding, washable, and reusable

Advantages: Since sponge is used as a carrier for sandpaper, it has a thickness. Compared to the other two types of sandpaper, it is more friendly to the fingers and can be used both dry and wet. When polishing with high mesh count, especially when making small objects such as pendants, it is a good choice.

Disadvantages: It is precisely because all sponges are used as carriers that the surface is relatively soft. When polishing a rough surface, sandpaper may be scratched. Therefore, in daily use, it is usually used after 400 mesh.
